With the present simple we say:

I  play basketball

You  play basketball

He/she/ it  plays basketball

We  play basketball

They  play basketball

With the present continuous we say:

I  am playing football

You  are playing football

He/she/it  is playing football

We  are playing football

You  are playing football

They  are playing football
